  4. THE MAJOR PHENIX DEBUGGING TOOL

  6. 1. CENTINEL IS MULTI-PROCESSOR
  7. CENTinel provides two kind of windows: DSP-windows and 
  8. 030/40/60-windows. Each processor is independent and you can trace, 
  9. run, broke, edit each one or both (even more, one of them can break 
  10. the other).
  11. With CENTinel, you can snoop the transactions between the DSP 
  12. 56x01 and the 030/40/60 and avoid the use of two different 
  13. debuggers.

  16. 2. CENTINEL IS USER-FRIENDLY
  17. First, it uses a colorful display mode, or extended screen mode using 
  18. CENTscreen or DOLMEN. It uses a proprietary window-system (up to 32 
  19. windows). You can move, resize each window as you like. You can also 
  20. create, delete, split them.
  21. When you feel ready to work, just have a look at the drop-down 
  22. menus and save your config ! The next time you[U+2019]ll find your config back. 
  23. Of course, you can have many configs which you can load at any time 
  24. (using CENTinel[U+2019]s file selector).
  25. The config file is an ASCII file, easy to modify. You[U+2019]ll be able to change 
  26. the colors and set some advanced preferences.
  27. CENTinel  makes it possible to debug your code in 1024*768(and 
  28. more !)*16c , with as many windows as you need and where you 
  29. need them.

  32. 3. CENTINEL IS POWERFUL
  33. CENTinel is very hard to crash because it runs in IPL 7. It may also use 
  34. a shifted VBR.
  35. CENTinel can break any program by using shift-alt-help for the 030/40/60 and 
  36. ctrl-alt-help for the DSP.
  37. CENTinel[U+2019]s wonderful evaluator allows complex expressions, including 
  38. all 030/40/60 addressing modes.
  39. With such a power, your imagination is the only limit. Just forget 
  40. the debugger.

  43. 4. CENTINEL HAS HIGH LEVEL CAPABILITIES
  44. With CENTinel, you will be able to use the source-code to debug your 
  45. programs. The languages supported are assembly, C (GCC & PureC in 
  46. progress) for the 030/40/60 AND the DSP ! 
  47. The supported executable file format includes MOTOROLA[U+2019]s .CLD 
  48. (Common Object File Format) for the 56001/56301.
  49. Mixing both processors programs and debugging them using their 
  50. sources makes CENTinel an indispensable  time-saving tool.
